SEO for Perth law firms: an isolated market with its own rules

The short answer

SEO for a Perth law firm is different from every other Australian city because Perth is isolated. There is no neighbouring city for clients to drift to and no corridor of competing markets; the whole of the Perth metropolitan area, from Two Rocks to Mandurah, is one legal market with two million people, and clients search by suburb within it. "Lawyer Perth" is a CBD commercial term contested by the resources-sector firms on St Georges Terrace. A firm in Joondalup, Rockingham, Midland, Fremantle or Cannington should own its suburb and its court, and the suburb search is less contested here than in any other capital because fewer firms have built for it.

Western Australia's legal profession is mid-sized but strategically outsized, built on mining, energy, construction and native title at the top end, and on a fast-growing suburban population at the other. For a suburban firm the opportunity is that most of the city's legal marketing effort goes into the top end, leaving the suburbs under-served.

Where the demand sits across Perth

  • CBD and inner city

(Perth, East Perth, West Perth, Northbridge): resources, corporate, commercial, employment and the courts, with West Perth as the mining services and professional precinct.

  • Western suburbs

(Subiaco, Nedlands, Claremont, Cottesloe, Dalkeith, Floreat, Wembley): high-value conveyancing, family with assets, private client and estate planning, and a professional client base that reads reviews and chooses on reputation.

  • Northern corridor

(Morley, Dianella, Mirrabooka, Balcatta, Scarborough, Hillarys, Joondalup, Wanneroo, Clarkson, Butler): suburban conveyancing, family, criminal (Joondalup Magistrates Court), wills, multilingual demand in Mirrabooka, and the northern growth frontier's new-build market.

  • Eastern suburbs

(Midland, Bassendean, Guildford, Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Forrestfield): a mixed market with Midland Magistrates Court, the Ellenbrook growth corridor, and the hills.

  • South of the river

(South Perth, Victoria Park, Cannington, Thornlie, Canning Vale, Armadale, Gosnells): mixed demand with strong family, criminal (Armadale Magistrates Court), conveyancing and multilingual immigration work in Cannington and Thornlie.

  • Fremantle and the south-west corridor

(Fremantle, Cockburn, Kwinana, Rockingham, Baldivis, Mandurah): a coastal corridor with its own identity, the Fremantle, Rockingham and Mandurah Magistrates Courts, strong family and criminal demand, FIFO families, and the Rockingham and Mandurah growth frontier.

  • Bunbury, Albany, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Broome

separate regional markets. A Perth firm should claim them only with a real presence.

WA-specific compliance and content

WA's Legal Profession Uniform Law framework, the Australian Consumer Law and the Legal Practice Board's guidance shape what a Perth firm can publish. Costs disclosure obligations mean fee content has to be accurate and not misleading. Personal injury advertising is restricted. Family content has to be written to the Family Court of WA. Property content has to be written to WA law: the settlement agent regime, the Strata Titles Act, WA transfer duty and the first home owner concessions, and the Landgate e-conveyancing requirements. A page written for NSW will read as wrong to a WA buyer and will not be cited by an assistant answering a WA question.

Proof from our campaigns

Our clearest conveyancing proof is J Scott & Co in Maidenhead, a UK high-street firm that went from ranking for its own name to the top result for 28 searches, from zero AI assistant mentions to 687 a month (against 15 for its nearest rival), and from 15 to 77 enquiries a month in six months, by building a page for every town in its catchment and a conveyancing section with real fees and real guides. In Perth the equivalent is a page for every suburb the firm serves, written to WA law and focused on where a solicitor adds value over a settlement agent.

Our clearest employment proof is Deen & Co in Canary Wharf: 62 to 1,021 monthly Google clicks in three months, 33 enquiries in a month, 7,017 AI citations in a quarter, and a Redundancy Hub that publishes a page for each major employer's staff the day job cuts are announced. Perth's resources sector, with its cyclical workforce and its large employers, is a natural market for the same system under the Fair Work framework.

Our Conveyancing Conversion Report 2026, from 36,463 closed enquiries across 22 UK firms, found that direct enquiry share predicts conversion at a rank correlation of +0.80, that Google star rating predicts it at +0.56 while review count does not, and that 80.5% of instructions are won within seven days. The economics of direct versus shared enquiries apply in Perth as they do everywhere.

Every figure above is one the client has approved and we can evidence in their analytics.

The pages a Perth firm needs

A page per suburb the firm genuinely serves, with substance that could only be about that place: the housing stock (the 1960s brick-and-tile belt, the new-build estates, the western suburbs' heritage stock, the strata developments), the council, the Magistrates Court, the freeway exit and the train line, the languages, the agents, and a named practitioner. Property content written to WA law and focused on complexity. Family content written to the Family Court of WA. FIFO-specific content for family, employment and workers compensation teams. Compensation content inside the advertising rules. Languages stated plainly where the team has them. Court-anchored content for criminal teams. A Google Business Profile per office. And for CBD commercial teams, sector-specific, partner-led content on resources, construction and native title.

What the work looks like each month in Perth

The Perth month runs on suburb pages, the map pack per office, reviews and WA compliance. We maintain and extend the suburb pages. We keep each Google Business Profile optimised and reviewed. We publish practice-area content written to WA law and the WA courts. We earn editorial links through digital PR in The West Australian, Business News, the Australian Financial Review, Lawyers Weekly and the community press, which in an isolated market carry more weight relative to competitors. We track suburb-level rankings and AI mentions. And we go through the enquiry list with the firm monthly, by suburb and by practice area, with the time difference managed so the call lands in Perth business hours.

Questions, answered

Law firm SEO in Perth: FAQs

Should we target "lawyer Perth" at all?

Rarely. It is a CBD resources and commercial term. Suburb and practice-area pages you can genuinely support, plus a strong Google Business Profile per office, produce more enquiries for less effort, and the suburb search in Perth is less contested than in any other capital.

Settlement agents do most conveyancing here. Is property SEO worth it for a solicitor?

Yes, if it is aimed at the right work: strata, subdivision, off-the-plan, commercial property, and transactions where something has gone wrong. A page that explains plainly when a solicitor is worth it over a settlement agent wins the clients who need one.

Our family content was written for the east coast. Does that matter?

Yes. The Family Court of Western Australia has its own procedures and forms. Content that reads as federal-court content will read as wrong to a Perth client and will not be cited for a WA question.

Do you have a Perth office?

Our Australian base is in Sydney. We work with Perth firms from there, with the time difference managed, as we work with UK firms from London. The suburb-level work is done the same way.

Will you work with a competing firm in our suburb?

No. One firm per practice area per catchment. In Perth a catchment is a suburb or a corridor, not the city.

Who stands behind this page

Written by the people who ran the enquiries, not by a content team

legalbuzz is run by George Levett and PJ Singh. They met at a City of London law firm, where PJ led sales operations and George ran digital growth, and went on to build Conveyancer Plus, the UK’s first outsourced conveyancing sales team. That is where the data on this site comes from: 36,463 closed conveyancing enquiries across 22 UK firms, which showed that 42.8% of instructions are won on the day of enquiry and that conversion varies 17.6x between firms on the same lead source. Every page here is written by a named founder, checked against the SRA Code, dated and reviewed.
